Two people have been hospitalised with serious injuries after a hit and run traffic collision on the Gort Road, Loughrea in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Gardaà are appealing for witnesses following a collision involving a motorcycle and another vehicle which occurred at 2:10am this morning.
The people on the motorbike, a man in his 50s and a woman in her 30s, were both taken to University Hospital Galway.
A statement from An Garda SÃochána said that they are being treated for serious injuries.
Gardaà have said that the driver of the other vehicle failed to remain at the scene of the collision.
The scene of the incident has been preserved for a technical examination, and diversions are in place.
Gardaà are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision or anyone with information to come forward.
