The turning on of the pedestrian crossing lights on the Dunmore Road in Tuam has been welcomed by East Galway TD Seán Canney.
The new crossing on Dunmore Road is to facilitate workers in the IDA Park and walkers using the footpath on the road.
The second pedestrian crossing is located on the Galway Road, to allow residents from the housing estates to cross the road safely for shopping and to access the town centre.
The lights on the Galway Road are expected to become operational this week.
Seán Canney TD said that he acknowledges the assistance of Galway County Council Engineers John Coyle and Paul Connolly in helping him to secure the necessary funding for these two valuable safety measures in the town.
