Two men arrested over spree of burglaries

Two men have been arrested in Galway in connection with a spree of burglaries that took place in Limerick and Tipperary this week.

Eight burglaries took place at businesses in Limerick and Tipperary in the early hours of Wednesday, January 15.

Gardaí investigating this conducted searches at three homes in Galway on Saturday, and two men in their 20s were arrested.

The arrests came after a joint operation led by officers from Henry Street Garda Station in Limerick, assisted by the Armed Support Unit in the Western Region and Gardaí from Tipperary, Limerick and Galway.

The two men were brought to Henry Street and Roxboro Road Garda stations where they were detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.

During the search operation, two vehicles were also seized for technical examination.
