Revenue officers seized approximately 2 kgs of suspected MDMA today in Castlebar, Co Mayo, with an estimated value of €120,000.
Two men in their 20s were arrested by Gardaí at a premises in the town, and are currently detained at a Garda station in County Mayo.
The seizure was made as a result of a joint operation conducted by the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau, the Mayo/Roscommon/Longford Drugs Unit and Revenue’s Customs Service.
A further 0.5 kg of suspected MDMA with an estimated value of €30,000 along with a small quantity of cash were also seized by Gardaí.
The drugs seized will now be sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis.
