Galway Daily news Galway - Dublin Expressway bus service cancelled

The Bus Eireann expressway service from Galway to Dublin has been cancelled, and will no longer operate from mid next week.

Bus Eireann has said that as of Wednesday, July 28, the Route 20/X20 Expressway service will no longer operate.

Along with Galway City, Dublin City, and Dublin Airport, this route also serves Craughwell, Loughrea, Aughrim, and Ballinasloe in Galway.

This is one of four expressway routes which have been cancelled following a viability review if the eighteen routes in the service, Bus Eireann has said.

These bus services which have been cancelled ran between Dublin and Belfast, Cork, Galway and Limerick.

Bus Eireann said that this decision was made to protect the other 14 routes following significant losses in 2020, and losses which are expected to continue over the next three years after the pandemic.

Expressway services will continue to operate from Galway to Limerick/Cork, Sligo/Donegal/Derry and to Ballina.
