Galway County Council is progressing plans for the ongoing construction of the Athenry Ring Road.

The council has published a compulsory purchase order for land to build the western end of the ring road scheme.

The first section of the ring road, from the Raheen Road (L3103) north, to a roundabout junction with Ballydavid Cottages and the R347, was constructed and opened to traffic in mid 2013.

The current CPO is for approximately one kilometre of road at Ballygarraun North and Ballygarraun South.

The work will also involve construction of a roundabout, and the provision of pedestrian and cycling infrastructure.

Copies of the CPO schedule, along with all maps, can be found at the offices of the county council on Prospect Hill, or online at galway.ie/en/services/roads/roadsprojects/athenry/.
