Cross Street will remain pedestrianised following traffic flow changes which will come into effect on four city centre streets next week.
Galway City Council released a map yesterday outlining the four streets on which traffic will change direction, including Cross Street – which was pedestrianised in July 2020.
But Cllr Owen Hanley has confirmed today that Cross Street will remain pedestrianised after next week, and said that the changes on the street refer only to morning deliveries.
Beginning on Monday 8th, traffic will flow in the opposite direction along Middle Street, Abbeygate Street Lower, Cross Street and Flood Street.
Galway City Council says the changes will reduce the volume of traffic along Middle Street and the adjoining sections of Abbeygate Street Lower and Cross Street Lower.
This will support safer pedestrian and cyclist access, support local businesses, and give more space for social distancing.
