Three women who were supposed to be in mandatory hotel quarantine after returning to Ireland were stopped by Gardaí near Loughrea.
The three women, who were reported leaving the quarantine facility in Dublin yesterday, were reportedly stopped on the M6 near Loughrea by motorway patrol.
An Garda Síochána stated that they liaised with the State Liaison Officer at a designated quarantine facility on Tuesday in accordance with current protocols following a report of three people leaving a facility in the Dublin area earlier that day.
A graduated policing response was adopted by Gardaí and all three have been returned to the facility.
An Garda Síochána also stated that as the Department of Health are the lead agency in relation to the management of mandatory quarantining, they will not be commenting further at this time.
