Thoor Ballyle could see a significant increase in visitors after being awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for 2019.
The site, which had almost 4,500 visitors last year, will see that number increase “significantly” with knock-on benefits for the local heritage and tourism sector, according to a Galway East TD.
Minister Ciaran Cannon said he was ‘delighted’ to see that a 2019 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence has been awarded to Thoor Ballylee.
The certificate is awarded to places which continuously provide great service for customers and visitors.
“The experience at this attraction was enhanced just a few months ago with the opening of a new studio for craftworkers and artists and despite the passage of 80 years since the death of Yeats, his name continues to be a draw for visitors in any of the sites associated with him.
“Between April and October of 2018, Thoor Ballylee saw visitor numbers of about 4,400 with a full schedule of cultural events including drama and different talk,” said the Fine Gael TD.
