The annual Survivors Celebration Walk with Tuam Cancer Care is on in two weeks, and there’s still time to register.
Tuam Cancer Care is a voluntary organisation offering practical, emotional, and psychological support for people dealing with cancer and their families.
A cancer diagnosis is more burden than anyone can carry on their own, and Tuam Cancer Care hopes that the support they provide can help people regain control of their lives.
The annual Survivors Celebration Walk is the group’s biggest fundraising event of the year.
It gives survivors and their families a chance to cherish the lives in the fresh air surrounded by friendly people.
This year the centre is giving people the option to raise money via sponsorship cards, running small events like coffee mornings or cake sales, or through online donation platforms.
The 2018 walk is on Sunday, October 14 at The Place Grounds in Tuam at 2pm.
While this day is about celebrating cancer survivors, and raising funds to help more people through that same fight, we should always remember those who didn’t make it through their struggle.
In addition to the walk, Tuam Cancer Care will once again be having a tree planting remembrance ceremony.
An event where people can tie a ribbon to a tree in memory of the people they’ve lost to cancer.
Ribbons can be purchased on the day for €2.
Tuam Cancer Care asks that anyone looking to take part in the walk register by midnight on Friday, October 5.
To register for free simply fill out a registration form and hand it in at the Centre or register online.
