The 30th Croí Corrib Charity Cycle concluded with resounding success on Sunday, as over 700 enthusiastic cyclists pedalled their way through the picturesque landscapes from Dangan through Connemara, finishing at Croí House, Newcastle.

This year’s event was particularly special as it marked the 30th anniversary of the charity cycle, making the remarkable achievement even more significant.

The event surpassed all expectations and raised vital funds to support Croí’s lifesaving work, bringing together cyclists from all walks of life to improve cardiovascular health.

None of this would have been possible without the generous support of the main event sponsor, Corrib Oil, who have been involved since the event’s inception thirty years ago.

Croí also extends its heartfelt gratitude to the other sponsors, Al Hayes Motors, Caragh Precision, and Westside Cycles, the many volunteers for their invaluable contributions, and the University of Galway for hosting the event start.

One of the highlights of this event is the carefully planned route, which showcases the breathtaking beauty of the Connemara region.

Cyclists embarked on a memorable journey, cycling through the stunning countryside and picturesque towns and villages from Dangan through Moycullen, Spiddal, Rossaveal, Maam Cross, Oughterard, and finishing at Croí House in Newcastle.

This year, there were two route options to suit all abilities: the 107km route and a 47km route. The routes received a very positive response from cyclists.

Christine Flanagan, Croí’s Director of Fundraising, expressed her deep appreciation for the overwhelming response and the impact it will have on the charity’s efforts.

She stated, “The 30th Croí Corrib Charity Cycle has exceeded all expectations, and we are incredibly grateful to all the cyclists, sponsors, and volunteers who made it possible.”

“The funds raised through this event will go a long way in ensuring that Croí can continue to provide crucial cardiovascular services and support to those in need.”

“Every donation counts and enables us to make a real difference in the lives of individuals and families affected by heart disease and stroke.”

The funds raised from the 30th Croí Corrib Charity Cycle will be utilised to advance Croí’s ongoing initiatives, including community education programmes, prevention programmes and support services such as Croí Connects (Croí’s phone and online support service), focused on cardiovascular health and stroke supports.

With the help of participants and sponsors, Croí can make a tangible impact in saving lives and improving the lives of individuals affected by heart disease and stroke.
