The GRETB is still advertising for ten teachers to fill positions at schools in Galway this academic year.
Seven of the positions are being listed for the first time, while three had been up before but are being re-advertised.
Teachers are needed for a range of subjects, with Maths teachers being particularly in demand in Galway schools.
The positions are a mixture of Full-time, Pro-Rata & Part-Time contracts.
The closing date for applications to these positions is 4pm on Friday, August 17.
Four of the teaching positions are at schools that teach through Irish. Three of them are on the Aran Islands and one is in Knocknacarra.
The list of advertised positions is as follows:
Coláiste Naomh Eoin, Inis Meáin:
- Maths (22hrs – Commencing August 27, 2018)
- Home Economics & Irish (18hrs – Maternity Leave – Commencing August 27, 2018)Â (Re-advertisement)
Colaiste Naomh Éinne, Cill Rónáin, Inis Mór:
- Maths (Leaving Cert), Engineering & Metalwork (22hrs – PRPT – commencing August 24, 2018)
Coláiste na Coiribe, Ballymoneen rd, Knocknacarra:
- English & French (11hrs – Learning support – commencing September 1, 2018) (Re-advertisement)
Those three schools are looking for applicants to teach through Irish. Anyone who wishes to apply must have the Irish requirement as per Circular Letter 21/00 issued by the Department of Education.
Claregalway College, Clargalway:
- Business & Irish (22hrs – Sick Leave – Commencing August 27 to December, 2018)
- Physical Education & Science (22hrs – Secondment post – Commencing August 27, 2018) (Re-advertisement)
St. Killian’s College, New Inn:
- History & English (15hrs approx – Commencing August 27, 2018)
Merlin College, Doughiska rd:
- Maths (22hrs – Commencing August 27, 2018)
- Physics & Science with Maths (16-22hrs – Commencing August 27, 2018)
Archbishop McHale College, Athenry rd, Tuam:
- Maths & Physics (18hrs – PRPT – commencing August 28, 2018)
In addition to the Galway schools, the GRETB is also looking to fill positions Abbey Community College, Boyle; Elphin Community College, Castlerea; and Roscommon Community College, Lismault in Co. Roscommon.

Candidates will be chosen on the basis on an interview process.
Teachers with the GRETB applicants must be registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland and have completed Garda vetting.
