A teenager has died after being hit by a car on the N17 in Co. Mayo on Saturday evening.
Gardai and emergency services attended the scene of a traffic collision on the N17 at Barnacarroll, Claremorris yesterday.
The collision occurred at approximately 9:20pm and involved a car and a pedestrian.
The pedestrian, a male aged in his teens, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
His body has been removed to Mayo University Hospital where a post mortem will take place.
No other injuries have been reported.
The road is currently closed for examination by forensic collision investigators. Local diversions are in place.
Gardaà are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam), and were travelling on the N17 between Claremorris and Knock yesterday evening between 8:45pm and 9:30pm are asked to make this footage available to GardaÃ.
