A Status Orange weather warning has been issued for Galway and six other counties for Storm Eunice this Friday.

Storm Eunice will bring severe and potentially damaging winds to Galway on Friday, gusting up to 130km/hr, possibly even stronger in areas.

Some disruption is expected along with a possibility of coastal flooding, Met Eireann has said.

The Orange wind warning has been issued for counties Galway, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Waterford, and Wexford.

It will be in force from 5am to 11am on Friday morning, after which Galway and the rest of the country will still be under a Status Yellow weather warning.

This will be in force from 1am to 3pm on Friday, during which time very strong winds and falls of heavy rain, sleet and snow are expected.

A Status Yellow wind warning for the ongoing Storm Dudley is in place today until 11:30pm.
