Storm Ellen: Ballinasloe power outages disrupting local water supply

Power outages resulting from Storm Ellen damage are disrupting the water supply in the Ballinasloe area today.

Galway County Council says that power outages in Ballinasloe after Storm Ellen, water levels are low at the local treatment plant, and at Garbally reservoir.

Local residents and businesses may experience water outages throughout the day while repairs to the damage from Storm Ellen are ongoing.

Irish Water says that repair works are scheduled to take place until 5pm this evening.

“Irish Water and Galway County Council Water Services wish to advise that due to a power outage in Ballinasloe, levels are low at the water treatment plant and at Garbally reservoir.”
“Residents and businesses in the area may experience water outages today as a result.”

“Galway County Council working in partnership with Irish Water wish to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

People affected by this are advised that it may take 2 -3 hours after repair work is complete before their full water supply is restored.
