A Status Orange weather warning has been issued for Galway and the Atlantic Coast for the worst of Storm Dennis tomorrow.

Galway and all of Ireland are under two status yellow alerts today as Storm Dennis brings poor weather conditions throughout the day.

Galway has been battered by spells of very heavy rain earlier today, but these are expected to taper off headed into the evening

The status yellow rainfall warning will remain in place until 9pm tonight.

On Sunday a status orange wind warning will come into effect at 10am, and remain in force until 10pm that night.

Sustained winds of 60-80km/hr have been forecast by Met Eireann, with gusts reaching up to 120km/hr.

Galway County Council has also warned of the possibility of coastal flooding due to a High Tide Advisory in place this weekend until Monday.

Winds will be strongest on exposed hills and coasts, with a risk of coastal flooding.

The warning applies to Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick
