Met Eireann has issued a status yellow rain warning for Galway and the north west which will be in place tomorrow and Saturday.
The weather warning for Galway, Mayo, Sligo, and Donegal warns of 40-50mm or rain accumulating over the period it’s in place, with localised flooding.
At the coast, high seas and strong to gale force southerly winds will combine to give a risk of coastal flooding.
The warning will come into effect at 3pm on Friday and remain in place throughout the next 24hrs until 3pm on Saturday.
Two marine warning have also been issued by Met Eireann for today, a Gale warning and a Small Craft warning.
Northwest winds are forecast to reach gale force for a time this afternoon and evening on Irish coastal waters from Mizen Head to Erris Head.
Tonight northwest winds will reach force 6 or higher on Irish coasts from Hook Head to Loop Head to Bloody Foreland.
Temperatures this evening will average 3°c – 5°c, but it will get warmer tomorrow with the mercury rising throughout the day to 10°c on Friday evening.
