St. Brendan’s National School in Loughrea is planning an expansion with the creation of new special education facilities.
Planning permission is being sought by the Board of Management for the construction of four special education teacher classrooms.
The four classrooms will be located in an entirely new building with a total floor space of 105sqm.
St. Brendan’s is a catholic boy’s primary school at Mt Pleasant, Loughrea.
The current school opened in 1968 after the closure of St. Brendan’s at Piggot Street.
It operated under the De La Salle Brothers until their withdrawal in 1987, and is now under the auspices of the Bishop of Clonfert.
The purpose built school facility comprises of eight spacious classrooms, staff-room, office, remedial and reception room.
Galway county council is due to make a decision on this planning application by July 25.
