Galway Daily news Snow and Ice warning in effect for Galway this evening

A yellow weather warning for snow and ice has been issued for Galway and much of Ireland.

The status yellow alert from Met Eireann warns that heavy rain will turn to snow and sleet throughout Sunday.

Much of the snowfall is expected to be in areas above 300m, but a dusting of snow is also forecast for lower lying areas.

Roads will be wet and slushy during the day, turning icy overnight as temperatures drop below freezing.

The warning comes into effect from 2pm on Sunday and will remain in place until 8am on Monday morning.

It covers Galway, Roscommon, Monaghan, Cavan, Munster, and Leinster.

Temperatures today are expected to range between 1 and 5 degrees.

Weather will be mostly clear overnight,but with widespread frost and temps continue to drop.
