Hundreds of homes and businesses across Galway are without electricity this morning due to multiple power outages.

Six separate power outages across Galway county have left over 350 homes without electricity this morning.

Carraroe is suffering the largest outage, with 111 properties losing electricity due to a fault that occurred just after half 10 this morning.

The ESB is predicting that power will be restored to the affected properties by 1pm this afternoon.

Several of the smaller outages today, in Cong, Ballygar, and Gort, are holdovers from Saturday when a thunderstorm in the early hours of the morning knocked out electricity to thousands of homes.

Met Eireann is predicting more poor weather throughout Sunday, with weather warnings in place for snow-ice and wind.

More thunder is also forecast as conditions deteriorate throughout the day.
