Met Eireann has issued an additional status yellow weather warning for Galway, forecasting gale force winds on Sunday.
This is the the second weather warning concerning Galway issued this weekend on top of a snow ice warning covering Sunday night and Monday morning.
Westerly winds of 50 to 65km/hr are expected throughout Sunday, with gusts reaching 90 to 110km/hr, strongest in coastal areas.
Galway is one eight counties Met Eireann has issued this wind warning for along with Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Kerry, and Limerick.
The weather warning will be in effect right through Sunday from 4am in the morning until midnight.
Tonight there’s a risk of hail and more thunder towards the morning.
Lowest temperatures tonight will range from -1°c to 2°c.
Winds will pick up going into Sunday morning with gales forecast to develop along the Atlantic coast.
On top of that the forecast warns of heavy wintry showers with a mix of rain, hail, sleet and snow and scattered thunderstorms.
Afternoon temperatures on Sunday will reach highs of 4-6°c.
