A multi-agency search operation has been taking place today for a man reported missing off the coast of Connemara on Thursday evening.
A little time after 6pm on Thursday evening, Coast Guard units and GardaĆ responded to reports of a man last seen trying to retrieve a dinghy.
Units from the Coast Guard and RNLI searched the waters offshore from the Carna area on Thursday evening, and the search resumed today.
Both the Clifden and Aran Islands lifeboat stations have been involved with the search, along with Cleggan and Costello Bay Coast Guard.
“Shortly after 6:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 6th, 2024, GardaĆ and the Coast Guard responded to reports of an individual (understood to be a male) entering the water off the coast of Carna, Co. Galway.”
“A Coast Guard led operation is currently underway,” a Garda spokesperson said, adding that no further details are available at this time.”
