People and schools across Galway are gearing up to take part in the annual festival of maths next week which, like many other celebrations this year, will largely take place online.

The fun, all-inclusive celebration promotes and develops a positive attitude towards maths in young people, and a wider awareness of the importance of maths across all sectors of society.

Maths Week Ireland has grown to be the biggest festival of its kind in the world over the last 15 years, and has been replicated in Scotland and England.

Health restrictions mean that this year’s celebration will look different, with few physical events able to take place.

But the fun and magic of maths week will be replicated in lots of virtual events across the week.

The Maths Week 2020 Nationwide Scavenger Hunt will take place on Saturday 10 October 2020 when families will need to work together to accomplish missions and bonus tasks.

Families can join the activity via an app and each team will receive a code to take part. Problem solving, creativity and a good sense of humour is advised!
