Traffic management is in place on the Letteragh Road to make repairs on a serious burst water mains in the Rahoon area today.
Homes and businesses in the Rahoon area may experience water outages until later on Friday afternoon due to the burst pipe.
“There is some local flooding and the road will need to be closed for repair works,” the city council said on facebook.
Irish Water said that repairs are expected to take until 4pm this afternoon to complete, but it may take 2-3 hours after that before full water supply is restored.
A statement said that “every effort” is being made to maintain the water supply to as many customers as possible while repairs are taking place.
The areas affected by this burst mains include Letteragh Road, The Heath, The Bailey, Rahoon and surrounding areas in the city.
Ronan Daly from Irish Water said “The repairs are being conducted as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimise disruption to the area and restore water for all customers.”
“We understand the inconvenience bursts can have on customers and we appreciate your patience as we work to return the water supply to homes and businesses as quickly as possible.”
