Update: Power has now been restored to the affected properties.
A power outage just outside Claregalway left 3,258 homes and businesses in the area without electricity this afternoon.
The outage was reported at 12.40pm today and power is expected to be restored to the properties affected by 4.15pm today.
ESB Networks apologised for the loss of supply and said that they are currently working to repair the fault and restore power as quickly as possible.
A further 25 premises in the Claregalway area and 81 houses in Oughterard are also without power this afternoon as part of planned repairs.
These homes are also expected to have their power restored by around 4pm this afternoon.
