Post-mortem examinations are expected to be carried out on the bodies of two people who were found dead in Co. Clare on Thursday afternoon.

A man and a woman, both in their 50s and who were known to each other, were found dead after Gardaí were called to a home in Killinaboy at around 2.30pm on Thursday.

Their bodies remained at the scene overnight.

The Coroner was notified yesterday and the services of the Office of the State Pathologist were requested.

A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to the family of the deceased.

A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed, and an Incident Room has been established at Ennis Garda Station.

Gardaí in Co. Clare are appealing to anyone who may have information to contact them.
