A post mortem examination is due to take place today after the discovery of a man’s body washed ashore at Barna yesterday.
The body of a male was found washed ashore at New Village, Furrymelia, East Barna on Tuesday evening.
The man’s remains were discovered by passersby who alerted gardaà to their discovery.
The remains have been taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway where a post mortem will take place today.
A file will be prepared for a coroner’s inquest which will take place at a later date.
A garda spokesperson said that this death is being treated as a personal tragedy.
