Galway Daily news road open after oil spill

The R355 Portumna to Ballinasloe road is clear for traffic again this evening after an oil spill earlier today.

Galway County Council reported that there had been an oil spill on the R355 between Ballinasloe and Laurencetown at around 10:20 this morning.

Council staff were on site clearing the road for most of the day and motorists were advised to use extreme caution.

In the past 90 minutes the county council has updated its earlier warning to say that the spill has been treated and that the road is now open again.
