Galway City Council has granted planning permission for an extension to the popular Galway Plate restaurant on the outskirts of the city.
Plans have been approved for a single storey extension to the front of the restaurant located on the Tuam Road.
The extension, which will have a floor space of 109sqm, will be used to provide additional seating area for the restaurant.
The initial designs were revised at the request of the council to set the new front 2m further back from the Tuam Road, to accommodate future plans for the road under the Transport Strategy.
No additional car parking is needed, as the existing parking space exceeds what is required under the City Development Plan for the expanded floor space.
Planning permission was granted by the city council with seven standard conditions attached.
