A planning application has been submitted with Galway county council to convert a retail unit into a martial arts dojo.
The application is to renovate a former card and gift shop at Athenry Shopping Centre in a martial arts and wellness studio.
The former Cards & Gifts store opposite Joyce’s Supermarket in Athenry went on the market for an advertised price of €115,000 during the summer.
The gross floor space of the unit that would be converted is 100.5m².
This planning application is still in the early stages, with a decision not due from the county council until late January.
Submissions related to the application can be made until January 4.
