Plans are progressing for a seven home residential development in Ballybrit on an unused plot of land.
A planning application is currently with Galway city council for the construction of seven houses on the Old Monivea Road in the east end of Galway city.
The development would consist of six semi-detached and one detached house with associated site and garden works.
Taking into consideration urban drainage concerns, the developer proposes installing water butts to gather runoff during rainfall so the piped drainage system isn’t overwhelmed.
It’s also proposed that runoff “grey water” can be harvested for use in irrigation of local green spaces.
A decision is due from Galway City Council on whether to allow this development to go ahead by January 11.
