Plans have been submitted to the county council for the construction of a 50 bed nursing home outside of Gort.
A planning application was made in March by Niall & Paula Cahill to build a new nursing home at Kilbeacanty, Gort.
The single storey building would have a bed capacity for 50 residents, as well as a treatment unit and a landscaped exterior.
Car parking at the nursing home would be facilitated through 24 parking spaces at two locations according to the site drawings included in the plans.
The original application including two entrances to the site, but after consultations with local residents, the plans were revised to omit a side entrance.
An Archaeological Assessment report undertaken in 2005 for a previously proposed housing development at Kilbeacanty was submitted with the application.
A draft Flood Risk Assessment of the site was also included in the planning application.
Galway County Council is currently due to make a decision on this planning application by May 5.
