Plans are currently in their early stages for a residential development in Loughrea consisting of 343 houses.
Rocktop Asset Management Limited is seeking approval for the construction of 343 houses along with creches and other works at a site in Cosmona, Loughrea.
The developer is currently seeking a pre-application consultation with An Bord Pleanála and the county council on whether the current plans have a reasonable basis for such an application.
A decision on this pre-application consultation process is currently due by April 9.
If it is approved, the next step will be for Rocktop Asset Management to make a Strategic Housing Development application with An Bord Pleanála.
This type of planning application was introduced in 2016 to fast track the planning process for housing development with more than 100 units or 200 student bed spaces.
It allows for the planning application to be made directly to the Bord, bypassing the county council.
