The Lodge at Ashford Castle will once again host the highly successful Pink Afternoon on June 11, raising funds for the National Breast Cancer Research Institute.

This popular event is organised by the charity’s Galway Fundraising Committee and sponsored by DeCare dental insurance.

Monies raised will help to support the breast cancer research team at the Lambe Institute, University of Galway, led by Professor Michael Kerin.

This year’s guest speaker is national hunt jockey, Nina Carberry, daughter of the legendary Tommy Carberry who won the Grand National as both a jockey and trainer.

Nina emulated her father and brothers Paul and Philip when riding the winner of the 2011 Irish Grand National.

She married into another of Ireland’s most famous horse racing families when she tied the knot with Ted Walsh Junior in 2012.

Since retiring from horse racing, Nina has gone on to win Dancing With The Stars in 2022 and is a coach on the RTE show, Ireland’s Fittest Family.

With The Galway Races on the horizon, the fun-filled day will include a Milliners Showcase, featuring headpieces by, Brid O’Driscoll, Majella Dalton of Crevation Design and Edel Staunton Millinery.

This year proceedings start at 12pm on 11 June with a drinks reception followed by a three-course lunch.

Galway Bay FM’s, Ollie Turner will host a fundraising auction. There will be table prizes, pop-ups and a few surprises on the day which will also feature live music into the late evening.

All proceeds from the event go to the National Breast Cancer Research Institute, tickets for the Pink Afternoon are €85 each and available online only at BreastCancerResearch.ie/PinkAfternoon
