Pedestrian killed in late night traffic collision

A pedestrian was killed in a car crash in the west of Ireland on Tuesday night.

GardaĆ­ are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in County Mayo, on the night of Tuesday, October 1.

Shortly before 11:00pm, GardaĆ­ and emergency services responded to the collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the N60 at Carrowntober Oughter, Manulla, near Balla.

The pedestrian, a male in his 40s, was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later.

The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place. The scene is preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

GardaĆ­ are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward.

They are also seeking any road users with camera footage (including dash-cam) who were traveling in the area at the time of the incident to provide it to investigating GardaĆ­.
