Over €100,000 in grants has been awarded to 20 different charities, sports clubs, and community groups in Galway City.
The funding approved by the city Local Community Development Committee comes under the Community Enhancement Programme for 2020.
This is meant for the maintenance, improvement and upkeep of community centres and community buildings.
In total €109,412 has been allocated for 20 projects meant to enhance community facilities in disadvantaged areas of the city.
Several of the grants related to equipment of changes to facilities needed as a result of COVID-19.
The single largest grant awarded was €25,622 for the development of an outdoor communal area at Cumasu Centre in Doughiska.
A further €12,000 has been given to Galway Autism Partnership for adaptation and equipment required by COVID-19, and refurbishment of the sensory room at their Newcastle premise.
And the Brothers of Charity will receive €10,000 for a new outdoor structure in their community space to enhance the sensory garden.
