More than 900 people braved the cold waters of Galway Bay on Wednesday morning for the COPE Galway Christmas Day Swim.

Hundreds of swimmers were joined by thousands of family members for the Christmas Day Swim at Blackrock in Salthill which helps raise funds for COPE Galway’s homelessness and abuse services.

“We are so grateful to the local services for their fantastic support today – the Gardai, Galway Lifeboat Service, Emergency Service, Civil Defence, our amazing event volunteers and all who took part and helped make today’s swim a huge success.”

“Funds raised will go to providing vital support services to people experiencing homelessness, domestic abuse and older people in Galway who need support,” COPE posted on facebook.
