Educate Together have announced Sarah Molloy as principal of their new Galway city Secondary School coming in for September.
Sarah is moving over from Calasanctius College Oranmore where she has served as Deputy Principal since 2017.
The Offaly native has worked with Educate Together in the past when she held the Deputy Principal post in the start-up team at their Stepaside secondary school in Dublin.
“I am delighted to be joining the Educate Together team in Galway,” said Sarah of her new role.
“I look forward to leading the development of an exciting new school which will be an inclusive, innovative, 21st Century centre of excellence where each member of the community will be valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.”
Enrollment is currently open for the new ETSS serving Oranmore and Galway city and parents can enroll their children here until February 11.
The Department of Education is still looking for a site for the new school, which is scheduled to open in time for the school year starting next September.
When completed its intended that the school will be able to cater for 1,000 pupils in Galway.
Jennifer Buttner, school manager for Galway ETSS said, “Since Educate Together was awarded patronage of the school last October we were aware that it was vital that we find the right person to lead the school in its formative years.”
Sarah studied Theology and English in the Mater Dei Institute of Education and in 2004 went on to do a Masters in ICT in Education at the University of Limerick.
In 2009, she did a Postgraduate Diploma in Educational Leadership in NUI Maynooth and then began her teaching career in Mount Anville Secondary School in Dublin.
“Luckily for us, Sarah is a perfect fit for the school and on behalf of the Galway ETSS school community and the Educate Together national office I would like to warmly welcome her back to the Educate Together team,” Jennifer Buttner finished.
