Lidl has been granted planning approval for an expansion in Oranmore that could create new jobs.
Lidl Ireland applied for planning permission for an expansion of its store at Carraig Láir Shopping Centre in Oranmore.
The expansion will add 313m² to the premises, including expanding on the retail space in store by 68m².
Lidl have said that the expanded store could be able to support up to five extra staff.
Work on the project will involve expanding the lidl store into two adjoining retail units which are currently vacant, as well as reconfiguration of the internal mall area.
The expansion is required “to enable the provision of an appropriate modern service to customers and provide sufficient floorspace to cater for existing demand”.
It is also claimed that it would contribute to the “vitality and viability” of Carraig Láir Shopping Centre by enhancing the facilities of its anchor tenant.
No submission were made to the county council concerning this development.
