The number of people in Galway receiving the Pandemic Unemployment Payment has fallen to 5,769.
Last week, there were 5,977 people in the county in receipt of the payment.
Nationally, 110,700 people received the PUP this week, a fall of 3,842 on last week.
Commenting on this week’s figures, Minister Heather Humphreys said: “It is worth remembering that at the peak of the virus in May of last year, over 602,000 people availed of the Pandemic Unemployment Payment in a single week.
“Those were among the darkest days of this Pandemic,” the Minister said.
“Thankfully, through perseverance, determination and adhering to public health advice, today’s picture is significantly different.”
