NUI Galway Students’ Union has presented the proceeds of a year of fundraising events to Galway Rape Crisis Centre and BeLonG To Youth Services.
The unique charity events held throughout the academic year raised a total of €11,000 for the two charities.
Events included a giant Christmas Raffle, a Taylor Swift night, saucy Sex Toy Bingo, charity Take Me Out, table quizzes, and a Sports Day.
There were also cake and clothes sales, and a charity book. The challenges helped the NUI Galway community to stay active and engaged whilst raising funds for two great causes.
Students’ Union President Róisín Nic Lochlainn said the response to the year of fundraising events was fantastic, and it helped everyone feel connected as a campus.
“NUI Galway students have a very proud tradition of raising money for charities and they have excelled themselves again this year,” she said.
Students’ Union Vice-President/Education Officer Clodagh McGivern said that in what has been a stressful academic year, it is great that students have put such a huge effort in to raising funds to help others.
“We are delighted to be presenting €11,000 to these two amazing charities who do so much for those in need,” she said. “To have raised so much is a great achievement for all involved.”
