Popular Galway City nightclub turned late bar DNA has announced that they are closing for the time being due to the new restrictions.

The club converted to a late bar a little over a week ago due to the announcement that all nightclubs were being shut.

However new restrictions were announced last week, imposing a 8pm closing time on all bars and restaurants, which came into effect on Monday.

DNA, which was only open from 11pm onwards, have said that they are “devastated” to be closing, but promised to be back as soon as they are able.

The current restrictions on hospitality businesses, and event capacity, are due to remain in place until January 30.

“Devastated is the only word we can think of. We thoroughly enjoyed entertaining you all and having you dancing with us over the last number of weeks,” the late bar said on facebook.

“It’s been tough at times as we faced so many new challenges from staffing to compliance and then time changes, but we still loved being back at it and doing our best to give people a good time.”

“We will be back as soon as we are allowed open again and we hope to see you all soon. In the mean time, please, stay safe and limit your contacts where possible.”
