Newtownsmith road in Galway city will be closed overnight on Thursday to allow works to take place in the area.
Galway city council have issued a closure order for the Newtownsmith road between Mary Street and the Headford road junction at the Salmon Weir Bridge.
The road will be closed overnight from 7pm on Thursday through to 6am on Friday morning.
The road is being closed to allow Irish Water to carry out sewer rehab works in the area.
Alternative routes will be signposted with diversion signage in place before work begins.
Motorists are advised that an alternative northbound route is available via Mary Street, St. Francis Street and the Headford Road.
Local access will be maintained at all times.
