A new playschool and creche for the Rosscahill community has been granted planning approval.
Galway county council has granted planning permission for the playschool/creche to be built next to Scoil Náisiúnta Caladh na Muc in Carrowmoreknock, Rosscahill.
The project has attracted strong support from the local community.
Marie Gibbons, the principal teach at S.N Caladh na Muc said that it would be a source of employment for the community, and greatly enhance the local school services.
S.N Caladh na Muc recently underwent an expansion, and Ms Gibbons said that having a nearby after school facility would make it easier for families to send their kid to school locally.
Without them, she said that people often have to send their kids to school in Moycullen, Galway city, or even further afield where such facilities are more easily accessed.
Before the playschool/creche opens, the county council has said that a Road Safety Audit must be carried out.
The council gave permission for the development with a total of eight conditions attached.
