Galway Daily news New life for old Clifden Post Office

The former Post Office in Clifden is due for new life, with plans now approved for it to be converted to a café and shop.

Galway County Council has granted planning permission to change the use of the building on Main Street, Clifden.

Aside from changing what the building is used for, the works will include new signage out front, and external and internal changes to the building.

Planning permission was granted by the county council with eleven standard condition attached.

Condition No. 3 stated that, outside of “exempted development provisions”, the new café may not sell hot food for consumption off the premises.

Clifden Post Office relocated from its old home on Main Street, to a new location in The Square back in 2019.
