The long-awaited National Car Testing (NCT) Centre for Tuam is now imminent.
That’s according to Galway East TD Sean Canney, who understands that the contracts have been issued and the Centre is to be located on the former Hi-Way Garage site on the Dublin Road at Rinkippen.
Planning permission was granted for the test centre in 2017.
Once contracts are signed, construction work will begin. It is expected that the Centre will be ready and operational in early 2019.
“This is great news for motorists in Tuam, and North Galway who will be able to get their car tested in Tuam rather than the arduous journey in to Galway. It will bring economic benefit to the town of Tuam and re-open a building that has been closed for a number of years,” said the Galway East TD.
