Buttons ‘n’ Bows Childcare Centre in Moylough is planning providing even more amenities for children with the addition of a new outdoor play area.

A planning application is currently with the county council to convert the existing garden attached to the childcare centre at The Orchard Moylough to a outdoor play/open space.

The project would also the construction of an uncontrolled level grade pedestrian crossing, footpath and pedestrian gateway to provide access from the existing crèche.

The county council is currently due to make a decision on this application by August 8.

Button ‘n’ Bows Childcare Centre opened in 2005 and currently accommodates 62 children and employs a total of 14 staff.

This is one of two expansions that Buttons ‘n’ Bows is seeking approval for from the council at the moment.

A separate planning application for a two storey extension to the main creche has been made “in order to accommodate the existing range of services being provided in the creche.”

It’s intended that the new ground space will be used an extension to the existing sleep room for the children and additional storage space.

While the new upstairs area in the childcare centre will contain a dedicated afterschool room for homework.

A decision was initially due to be made on that application by late May, but the council requested more information on whether this expansion would affect the number of children or staff at the centre.

The response submitted this week said that the number of children and staff will not be affected by the expansion.

The council is now expected to make a ruling before August 11.
