Galway Mountain Rescue Team came to the aid of a person stranded in the Twelve Bens mountains yesterday evening during difficult weather.
The Galway Mountain Rescue Team were called out at approximately 11am on Monday in response to a stranded person on the South Bens.
Multiple search parties were deployed during an operation which lasted almost six hours during high winds.
A status yellow weather warning for winds of 50-65km/hr, and gusts of up to 100km/hr, was in place from 3am to 10pm on Monday.
During the operation Rescue 118 helicopter was en-route to assist with the search, and Mayo MRT was also on standby if needed.
The missing person was successfully located and escorted to safety by the Galway MRT.
