Passengers on the Galway to Heuston line can expect major delays this morning due to a tragic incident of a person being struck by a train.
Irish Rail reported that a person had been struck and killed by a train between Sallins and Newbridge sometime around 9am this morning.
This is causing major disruptions today on all trains heading to and from Heuston Station as gardaà and emergency services attend the scene.
Trains from Galway to Heuston are running today, but with major delays as bus transfers are being arranged to take passengers the rest of the way from Portarlington.
However this is moving slow according to a tweet from Irish Rail due to delays in sourcing enough buses for the volume of people travelling on the line.
Currently no intercity trains are departing from Heuston Station, with Irish rail giving an estimated time of 1pm for services to resume from the station.
Update: Current estimate for line to reopen and services to resume from Heuston Station is 13.00hrs.
Emergency services remain on line following earlier tragic incident https://t.co/Zxmu5lLwAm
