Loughrea Hotel & Spa has been refused planning permission for a proposed expansion hotel.
Atlantic Troy Ltd had submitted plans for an expansion to the Loughrea hotel that included demolishing an unoccupied dwelling on the site and building a new guest wing in its plans.
The expansion would have consisted of a building with eight bedrooms and amenity spaces adjacent to the existing hotel complex.
The Loughrea Hotel & Spa also intended to create a new parking area, which would be connected to their existing parking spaces, to accommodate the expanded guest intake.
One submission was made to the county council from a local resident with privacy concerns about the two storey building.
Galway county council ultimately rejected the hotel operator’s planning application.
